Inside a Logo

I want to show some logos (some you may have seen before) that have hidden messages or images within. There have been many a blog on the subject but I think that they are fun to look at and find out about.
I wonder how people come up with this stuff. Either way, I think they are cool and if you can incorporate things like this into your design, you have got a talent.

My favorite is the very simple FedEx logo. Looking at the empty space between the “E” and “x”, we can see an arrow. This symbolizes moving forward. I wonder if it was really done on purpose?

Next we have Tostitos. Notice the two middle “T”’s are two people sharing chips and salsa. Appropriate and fun.

Here is another very simple but very effective use of negative space. The use of negative space to hide messages within a logo may perhaps be one of the easier approaches.

Here are a few more examples with negative space.

Who new LG was just a cut up Pacman?

This is the first time I noticed this one. Between the K and the I is a shape of a Hersey kiss.

So why all the hidden items?
It’s fun.
It sells.
If you see it, you may think its cool and buy into it. But more importantly, if you are the designer and present the logo to the company with color that represents meaning and a cool hidden message, then the company will buy your design.

Sure, you can go online and find a million different generic logo’s for your company that might work, but if you want something special, you’ll hire an artist.
So if you plan on designing logo’s (and want to actually sell them), DO YOUR RESEARCH! That is the most important thing in creation. Know what the company is about, what colors best suit the logo, and what message can you hide in there that will inspire the company to buy into you.
